About the person:
Robert Koch is a systemic psychotherapist with many years of experience in private practice in Korneuburg. After graduating as a social worker in 1982, he was registered as a licensed psychotherapist in 1995. In 2011, he completed a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy Science with a research thesis titled “Human–Animal Interaction as Part of Systemic Psychotherapy.” Since 2015, he has also been a trainer for systemic family therapy.
A key focus of his work lies in animal-assisted psychotherapy. For over 15 years, Robert Koch has led the Institute for Equine-Assisted Communication and offers advanced training programs for psychotherapists working with horses or dogs. The fifth training curriculum for equine-assisted psychotherapy is currently underway.
He is a certified child and adolescent psychotherapist and teaches this subject at the Sigmund Freud Private University, where he also works as a lecturer—alongside his teaching role at the Austrian Association for Systemic Therapy and Systemic Studies (ÖAS). Since 1999, he has published several professional articles with a focus on systemic psychotherapy.
Robert Koch lives in Stockerau and is the father of a daughter and two sons. His daughter is also a psychotherapist and works side by side with him in their shared practice. He is accompanied in his animal-assisted work by his therapy horse Clausi and his therapy dog Mützi, both of whom are also involved at the Erlebnishof-Malafa (https://www.erlebnishof-malafa.at).
Über die Person:Robert Koch ist systemischer Psychotherapeut mit langjähriger Erfahrung in freier Praxis in Korneuburg. Nach dem Diplom als Sozialarbeiter 1982 wurde er 1995 in die Liste der Psychotherapeut:innen eingetragen. 2011 schloss er den Masterstudiengang für Psychotherapiewissenschaften mit einer Forschungsarbeit zum Thema „Der Mensch-Tier-Kontakt als Teil der systemischen Psychotherapie“ ab. Seit 2015 ist er zudem als Lehrtherapeut für systemische Familientherapie tätig.
Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit liegt in der tiergestützten Psychotherapie. Robert Koch leitet seit über 15 Jahren das Institut für pferdegestützte Kommunikation und bietet Fortbildungen für Psychotherapeut:innen an, die mit Pferden oder Hunden arbeiten. In diesem Rahmen ist derzeit das fünfte Curriculum für pferdegestützte Psychotherapie im Gange.
Er ist zertifizierter Kinder- und Jugendlichentherapeut und unterrichtet dieses Fach an der Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität, wo er auch als Dozent tätig ist – ebenso wie bei der Österreichischen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für systemische Therapie und systemische Studien (ÖAS). Seit 1999 hat er mehrere Fachartikel mit dem Schwerpunkt systemische Psychotherapie veröffentlicht.
Robert Koch lebt in Stockerau, ist Vater einer Tochter und zweier Söhne. Seine Tochter ist selbst Psychotherapeutin und arbeitet Tür an Tür mit ihm in der gemeinsamen Praxis. In seiner tiergestützten Arbeit begleiten ihn sein Therapiepferd Clausi und sein Therapiehund Mützi, die unter anderem auch am Erlebnishof-Malafa eingebunden sind (https://www.erlebnishof-malafa.at).
