Depression is a serious mood disorder affecting approximately 175 million people worldwide, with a significant increase after the pandemic. Research on the possibilities of interventions in this disorder is polarized between those from a biological and pharmacological perspective and those that consider them insufficient to deal with all its complexity. In this context, the perspective on multifactorial, multicultural and phenomenological of this suffering is emphasized, considering the underlying psychic origin of depressive symptoms, a privileged subject of a clinic with a psychological-phenomenological basis. Despite the urgency for answers, there is a lack of research on clinical-psychological interventions that consider a broader perspective of the phenomenon, indicating the need for studies that discuss the contributions of psychotherapy to the treatment of depression as well as the evaluation of the degree of therapeutic changes and the psychological processes involved in it. This research aimed to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the Direct Approach to the Unconscious (ADI) Method used in the psychological clinic by Personal Integration Therapy (TIP) – ADI/TIP Method - in subjects suffering from depression. The ADI/TIP Method was created by the Brazilian psychologist R. Jost de Moraes (1936-2013), through her experiential clinical practice since 1975. It is presented as an Evidence-Based Practice in Psychology for Depressive Syndrome (EBPP), and finds its fundamentals in the phenomenological psychology of E. Husserl (1859-1938) and the phenomenological anthropology of E. Stein (1891-1942). Its therapeutic resources allow for a conscious and direct approach (without analysis or interpretation) of the psychic contents registered in the unconscious layer of consciousness, enabling the therapeutic-diagnosis of primordial psychoaffective livedexperiences, allowing changes in essential layers of subjectivity, in a short-term clinical psychological intervention (10 to 15 sessions) preceded by a preparatory phase. This research is distinguished as a mixed and prospective longitudinal study with a sample of 341 participants. Data collection was carried out in four stages: 1) initial phase; 2) final phase (immediately post-therapy); 3) longitudinal phase 01 (after three months); 4) longitudinal phase 02 (after six months). The psychotherapeutic process used was the ADI/TIP Method and the BDI-II was the quantitative data collection instrument. For the longitudinal analysis, the nonparametric Friedman statistical test was used, complemented by the Wilcoxon test with Bonferroni correction for post hoc analyses. The results indicated significant improvement in the final phase and partial maintenance over time. The analysis of individual trajectories confirmed the efficacy of the treatment, with 100% of the participants showing improvement in the final phase, with an average reduction of 80.5% in depression scores and 92.6% maintaining clinically significant improvement (≥50%) after six months. For the qualitative research, 15 participants were selected according to the scope and richness of the content of their individual psychotherapeutic trajectory, and the Generic Change Indicators Scale (GCI) was used for data analysis. The participants achieved the highest levels of change on the GCI, results that remained consistent. The qualitative discussion was based on the psychological-phenomenological theory that allowed a more comprehensive interpretation of the observed changes, connecting therapeutic advances to fundamental aspects of human existence. These results demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the ADI/TIP Method in the treatment of depression within the scope of Clinical Psychology (psychotherapy), and it is suggested the increase in research into longitudinal psychological-clinical interventions that meet the demands of a science that contemplates the human being in all its integrality.

Presentation of the statistical analysis of the research project "Psychotherapeutic Interventions in Depressive Syndrome: the Direct Approach to the Unconscious Method in Personal Integration Therapy (ADI/TIP Method) by Renate Jost de Moraes and its phenomenological-anthropology" (Co-presentation)

Das psychische Erleben, sein Transfer auf andere Generationen und die Assimilation ist ein sowohl psychospirituelles (menschliche Struktur) als auch ein psychokulturelles (Bedeutungsmatrix) Phänomen, in dem sich die Intersubjektivität als eine grundlegende Bedingung für seine Strukturierung und Entwicklung offenbart. Das psychische Erbe erscheint als Grundlage der Persönlichkeitsbildung und zeigt sich in der Wiederholung von transgenerationalen psychischen Inhalten in den zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen. Die klinische Psychologie hat sich mit dem Problem der Weitergabe destruktiver psychischer Inhalte auseinandergesetzt, deren Inhalt das psychische Erleben der Nachkommen stört und desorganisiert. Dieses Phänomen tauchte in der psychotherapeutischen Erfahrung der Psychologin Renate Jost de Moraes (1936-2013) seit den 1970er Jahren auf, der Begründerin der Psychotherapie mit dem Titel „Methode vom direkten Zugang zum Unbewussten in der Therapie zur Integration der Person (ADI/TIP-Methode). Husserl begründete die phänomenologische Methode zur Untersuchung psychischer Phänomene und erkannte die Notwendigkeit, eine phänomenologische Psychologie zu begründen, die rational, unverfälscht und nicht den Naturgesetzen, der psychischen Kausalität sowie dem Determinismus unterworfen ist, mit dem Ziel eine strenge Grundlage für die Humanwissenschaften anzubieten, was die Wahl beider für diese Forschung rechtfertigt. Bei der psychologisch-phänomenologische Forschung wurden Erfahrungen und ihrer Bedeutungen analysiert, um das psychische und spirituelles Erleben und ihre Wirkungsformen im Prozess der Übertragbarkeit, der Assimilation und der Transformation der gemeinsamen psychischen Inhalte zu ermitteln. Diese Forschung zielte auch darauf ab, den Beitrag der ADI/TIP-Methode als klinische Intervention angesichts der Transgenerationalität in der psychischen Prägung der menschlichen Person zu untersuchen.
Die Psychotherapie der ADI/TIP-Methode wurde als Instrument zur Datenerhebung verwendet. Die Stichprobe bestand aus vier Patient:innen. Die Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchung wurden auf der Grundlage der psychologisch-phänomenologischen Grundlagen von Husserl und Stein analysiert. Der Prozess der Selbstkonfiguration der Teilnehmer zeigte, dass geteiltes psychisches Material angeeignet, in das „Ich“ integriert, kristallisiert und als Wahrheit beibehalten werden kann, wodurch sich die Selbstwahrnehmung, die Wahrnehmung der anderen und der Welt verändert. Andererseits hat sie gezeigt, dass die Gesetze der Motivation sowohl die Nicht-Identifikation als auch die Desidentifikation mit der innerfamiliären psychischen Prägung zulassen. Das Studium der phänomenologischen Psychologie und der Anthropologie ermöglichte eine erkenntnistheoretisch-anthropologische Grundlage für die Untersuchung der psychischen Übertragung. Die phänomenologische Psychologie zeigt Schichten passiver (unbewusster) und aktiver (reflektierender) Synthese und Sedimentierung von Erfahrungen in der Struktur des Bewusstseins auf. Ebenso identifiziert sie psychische und spirituelle Erfahrungen (Erlebnisse) und unterschiedliche Kausalitäten, die die Prozesse der Übertragbarkeit, Assimilation und Transformation psychischer Inhalte, die zwischen den Generationen geteilt wird, sowie potentiell Veränderung und neue Selbstkonfiguration ermöglichen und erhellen. Der Assimilationsprozess vollzieht sich in verschiedenen Modi: von der hyletischen Schicht bis zur Schicht des spirituellen Erlebens. Die Gesetze der Motivation erlauben es uns zu verdeutlichen, dass das Phänomen der Reaktivierung von psychischen Inhalten nicht auf das psychische Leben und seine Gesetze oder auf die psychische Kausalität, wie sie von den

Naturwissenschaften beschrieben wird, reduziert werden kann. Die ADI/TIP-Methode hat gezeigt, dass sie einen Beitrag dazu leistet, direkt auf das Unbewusste (passives Bewusstsein) zuzugreifen - ohne jegliche Bewusstseinsveränderung oder Suggestion - und somit auf die Sinninhalte und Bedeutungen zuzugreifen, die in den Erfahrungen enthalten sind, einschließlich der transgenerationalen Erfahrungen, die die körperlichen, psychischen und spirituellen Lebenserfahrungen bei der Bildung der menschlichen Person erfüllt haben. Darüber hinaus weist sie auf die Möglichkeit hin, an der Transformation der psychischen Prägungen auf der Grundlage einer Neupositionierung des Subjekts zu arbeiten, die zu einer neuen Selbstkonfiguration führt.

Every form of psychotherapy is grounded in a psychological theory. Each approach is anchored in a specific model of the human psyche, establishing its own conceptions of psychological development, the origins of disorders, and the most effective methods for psychological transformation. The choice of a theoretical foundation is not merely methodological but also philosophical, as it defines the therapist’s perspective on human nature and the capacity for change. Phenomenological psychology, developed by Edmund Husserl and furthered by Edith Stein, provides a foundation that transcends the naturalistic, psychologistic, and reductionist models predominant in psychotherapy. Unlike traditional approaches, which often assume fixed diagnostic categories or naturalized psychic structures, phenomenological psychology proposes a rigorous investigation of lived experience. It employs epoché and psychology reduction as methodological tools to uncover the ways in which psychic consciousness is constituted. This workshop will explore key ideas in phenomenological psychology, presenting it not as just another therapeutic approach but as a radical rethinking of how the psyche is understood. Furthermore, it aims to establish phenomenology as a secure and rigorous foundation for psychotherapeutic practice - one that is deeply committed to lived experience, not as a mere technique or therapeutic style, but as a path toward a genuine understanding of psychological experience.
